Ilya Umm Bilaal
Energetically radiant, resilient and deeply passionate about helping others. I have walked a unique and inspiring path that has shaped me into the transformational coach I am today. My journey is one of faith, courage and an unwavering commitment to growth and empowerment.
For as long as I can remember, I have felt like “the stranger.” As a child, I didn’t quite fit in, questioning norms and seeking deeper meaning. Now, I see this as one of the greatest gifts, because the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Glad tidings to the strangers.” This perspective has fueled my resilience and my passion to empower others to embrace their unique paths.
In 2011, Allah, in His infinite mercy, placed emaan in my heart. It was as though He lifted me from darkness and guided me into His light. Reverting to Islam was the profound turning point that shifted my perspective on purpose.
In my late thirties, I pursued a degree in Environmental Science, while being asked: “How can you study science and believe in God?”
Rather than shaking my faith, studying His creation only deepened it. Understanding the intricacy and splendour of Allah’s Creation strengthened my awe of the Creator. Alhamdulillah, my son was born during my studies and though it was challenging, I balanced motherhood, a full-time job and my studies with the energy Allah blessed me with.
In 2021, Allah guided me to a new chapter. With ties to my home country cut, I made hijra to The Gambia, my son’s father’s homeland. Raising my son in a Muslim environment is my priority. So is teaching him to name, feel and healthily channel his emotions, while fostering fun, love and deep connection. My work provides the flexibility I need as a single mother and I hold firm to the belief that Allah never gives us more than we can bear.
Exploring the concept of tayyib living led me to holistic health, trauma work, transformational breathwork and coaching—realizing this had been my calling all along. Coaching isn’t just my work; it’s my gift! SubhanAllah.
Today, I help success-driven Muslim women achieve massive breakthroughs and lasting transformation, empowering them to align their lives with their values and purpose. Trusting Allah’s plan has shaped my extraordinary journey, and I’m honored to help others step into their unique light with faith and confidence.
